Brandon Sim

Brandon K. Sim, MS

President & Chief Executive Officer

Brandon Sim is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Astrana Health, where he leads the company in its mission to enable providers in delivering accessible, high-quality, and high-value care to all. At Astrana Health, he leads the healthcare delivery transformation effort for physicians and patients and oversees the company’s strategy, growth, operations, and technology innovation. Prior to his current role, he served as Chief Operating Officer, Chief Technology Officer, and Vice President of Engineering at ApolloMed, joining the organization in 2019. 

Prior to joining Astrana, Mr. Sim was a Quantitative Researcher at Citadel Securities from 2015 to 2019, and before that, co-founded and served as Chief Technology Officer at Theratech, a medical device startup. Mr. Sim serves as a board member for a private healthcare technology company and prior served as a board member of Cardio Diagnostics (NASDAQ:CDIO).

Mr. Sim received his M.S. in Computer Science and Engineering as well as his B.A. in Statistics and Physics with high honors from Harvard University.
Chan Basho

Chan Basho, MBA

Chief Financial Officer & Chief Operating Officer

Chan Basho is Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer at Astrana Health, where he is responsible for leading the development and execution of Astrana Health’s finance, strategy and operations along with improving operating discipline to ensure the Company’s ability to scale successfully.

Mr. Basho possesses 15 years of experience in strategy, finance, and operations at reputable healthcare companies, most recently having served as Vice President of Strategy and Corporate Development at Alignment Healthcare since 2018. From 2017 to 2018, Mr. Basho served as Chief Financial Officer at Alsana, a private equity-backed behavioral health company. From 2014 to 2017, Mr. Basho served in different positions at HealthCare Partners, a DaVita Medical Group company, including as Vice President of Strategy and Corporate Development leading strategy and development for the California market. From 2007 to 2014, Mr. Basho served in different capacities related to strategy and finance at DaVita Kidney Care, including as Director of Corporate Finance.

Mr. Basho received a bachelor’s degree in Bioengineering from the University of California, Berkeley, and an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Dinesh Kumar

Dinesh Kumar, MD

Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Dinesh Kumar is the Chief Medical Officer at Astrana Health. Dr. Kumar is a visionary healthcare leader with over 25 years of healthcare experience and has spent his career transforming healthcare for the better, across clinical, provider group, and payer settings. Prior to his appointment as CMO of Astrana Health, Dr. Kumar served as Chief Medical and Chief Operating Officer at Alignment Healthcare. Before that, Dr. Kumar led value-based care and population health efforts as Senior Vice President of Clinical Transformation at DaVita. Prior, he served as Chief Medical Officer of HealthCare Partners within the California market.

Dr. Kumar received his medical degree from the University of Madras and completed his residency in internal medicine at Howard University. He then completed his fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center and completed a Health Care Leadership Program at the University of California-San Francisco.
Jeremy R. Jackson

Jeremy R. Jackson, MD

Chief Quality Officer

Dr. Jeremy Jackson is the Chief Quality Officer at Astrana Health, where he leads clinical and operational teams in ensuring that the highest quality of care is delivered to our patients each and every day. Dr. Jackson joined Astrana Health as Chief of Staff to the CEO, and was then promoted to Chief Quality Officer in June 2021.

He brings 10 years of healthcare industry experience in management consulting and as a practicing physician to Astrana Health. He previously served as a Project Leader in the Boston Consulting Group’s healthcare practice and, from 2011 to 2018, was a resident physician in the Department of General Surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (Harvard Medical School) where he led the postoperative care teams serving patients across a broad spectrum of surgical disease. Dr. Jackson was also a Chief Resident in Quality and Patient Safety for the Department of Surgery at the Boston Veterans Affairs Hospital from 2017 to 2018 and a research fellow in the Department of Pediatric Surgery at the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles from 2014 to 2016.

Dr. Jackson received his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Michigan Medical School and Bachelor of Arts in Biological Sciences, Magna Cum Laude, from the University of Southern California.
Albert Young

Albert Young, MD, MPH

Chief Administrative Officer

Dr. Albert Young is the Chief Administrative Officer at Astrana Health. Dr. Young has served as Chief Administrative Officer since 2019 and had previously served as Chief Medical Officer since 2006. Dr. Young received his medical degree from West Virginia University School of Medicine and completed his internal medicine residency training at Los Angeles County and USC Medical Center. Upon completing his residency training, Dr. Young completed a fellowship in pulmonary medicine. An advocate of general preventive medicine, Dr. Young also obtained a master’s degree in public health from UCLA in 1998.
John Vong

John Vong, CPA, CGMA, MBA

Chief Accounting Officer

John Vong is Senior Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer at Astrana Health, where he is responsible for leading accounting, SEC reporting, SOX compliance, tax, and treasury. 

He is an experienced finance and business leader with over 25 years of diverse experiences ranging from entrepreneurial start-up to Fortune 500 companies.  John has over 12 years of experience in the healthcare industry including health plan, MSO, IPA, and clinics operations. Most recently, John was the Vice President of Finance at Prospect Medical Systems and Coordinated Regional Care where he led the finance and accounting functions. His prior roles also included investor relations, M&A, and integration.

John received his Master of Business Administration from the University of California, Irvine, and his bachelor’s degree in business administration with accounting and finance concentration from the University of California, Riverside. John is a licensed Certified Public Accountant (“CPA”) from the state of California and holds the Chartered Global Management Accountant (“CGMA”) from the American Institute of CPA. He started his accounting career with RSM and KPMG.
Paul Van Duine

Paul Van Duine, MBA

SVP, Contracting

Paul Van Duine joined Astrana Health in October of 2021 as Senior Vice President of Payer Relations and Contracting. In this role, Paul leads health plan and provider contracting, while enhancing payer and provider relationships to create strategic business partnerships. Paul also leads operational enhancements in areas such as delegation oversight, provider configuration and data accuracy, all important functions in the payer relationship.  

Paul has thirty years of managed care industry experience in Contracting, Provider Relations and Operations.  For the four years prior to joining Astrana Health, Paul served as Vice President of Network and Operations for Molina Healthcare of California.  

Paul received his MBA from University of Southern California (USC) Marshall School of Business, and his Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD).
Rita Pew

Rita Pew, MBA

VP, People

Rita Pew is Vice President, People at Astrana Health, where she leads Astrana’s HR and people operations, change management, talent acquisition, employee engagement, diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, and more.

Prior to joining Astrana Health, Rita spent nearly a decade at DaVita, where she served in a number of leadership roles, all of which focused on partnering with nephrologists to drive and support the company’s overall Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) strategy. She brings extensive operational knowledge ranging from provider employment models to revenue cycle management to her new role at Astrana Health.

Rita received her MBA from UCLA and Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania.
Marie Price

Marie Price

President, AstranaCare of Nevada

Marie Price is President, AstranaCare of Nevada, where she leads Astrana Health’s Nevada operations as well as revenue cycle, billing, and practice management MSO functions.

Marie has over 30 years of experience in running medical practices, including marketing, office operations, revenue cycle management, billing, coding, back office and financial management. Prior to joining Astrana Health, Marie was an entrepreneur, founding and leading her own consulting business for over a decade while striving to serve providers and make their practices more efficient. She has a deep passion for healthcare and devotes her efforts to the success of the organization, safety and care for the patients, and appreciation for staff.
